Joyflight flying is open to public and available during normal club operating time (weather permitted).

Our Joy flights are carried out under the command of a qualified/ experienced pilot and are planned to help you discover the pleasure and the sensations of soaring. This is an exciting and stimulating adventure that everyone enjoys!

You will fly with our dual seater gliders that have a tandem configuration with one seat behind the other. The pilot will be in the rear seat and you sit in the front which gives you the best visibility.

Our qualified pilot will assist and guide you through the entire flight. Before the flight the pilot will point out to you the different parts of the glider including the instruments and controls, and explain to you how everything works. Once you are strapped in and a pre-flight checklist completed then you are ready to go. Pilot will shorly make a call to the tow aircraft for departure.

Your aircraft (and of course "with" the instructor pilot) will roll on the runway for a seconds before it starts aloft in the air. You (and of course "with" the instructor pilot) will be flying in formation behind the tow aircraft until you reach 1,500 feet or more. The pilot may ask you to pull the release knob and you will then experience the wonder of un-powered aircraft flying. Now you are free to soar like a bird, giving you the thrill of silent and graceful saiplane flight.

If you like during the flight the pilot will explain how to keep track of where the airfield is with reference to points on the ground. The pilot will also show you how the controls work

Depend on the conditions (weather, altitude) and with the agreement with the pilot, you can try to control the aircraft by yourself, learning how to keep it level & straight, banking left and right, or even experience "stall". Don't worry the pilot sits in the rear seat will observe and supervise you, he can take back control of the glider at any time to make sure that the flight is carried out safely.

The flight duration is dependent on prevailing weather conditions and usually last about 15-30 minutes. If the weather conditions is good (plenty of raising current of air / thermal) it is possible to stay airborne for longer and even gaining higher altitude.

From the air you can see the Pondok Cabe Airfield and its surrounding scenery.

Finally, now you are descending to 1000 feet. It is time to prepare for landing. The pilot will take control of the airplane and start making the landing pattern. You can experience the thrill when pilot making final approach and flaring to make a good touch down.

After a long hot flying day, you can relax in our comfortable air-conditioned clubhouse.

Please remember to bring a hat and sunglasses with you for sun protection. Sunscreen is essential, because the canopy doesn’t protect you from the sun’s rays, and by all means you may bring a camera and take some great souvenir photos as a memento of your flight with us.
